While we are enjoying our beautifully laden Rosh Hashanah table with all the trimmings and our best recipes, there is a different story at Beer Sheva’s homeless/women’s shelters.
In the south of Israel, there are two shelters for Israelis who have totally given up hope and were picked up off the streets in Tel Aviv and other cities.
One is for women who have had to flee their homes for safety. The other is for homeless men.
The shelters have most of their expenses covered, except for the constant flowing meals.
Israel Relief Aid wants to send supermarket funds to cover all September in honor of Rosh Hashanah, that they’ll have a worthy meal, and a month’s worth of food.
These Israelis have been through enough – living on the street and/or with abuse.
Let’s make sure they have good nutrition and comfort this Rosh Hashanah. Let’s do this.
