Your People Shall Be My People

On the Israeli holiday of Shavuot (also called Pentecost, May 16-17 this year), Israelis will read the book of Ruth: “wherever you go, I will go; and where you lodge, I will lodge, your people shall be my people”. It is a holiday of reconciliation between peoples.

Municipal Shavuot activities in Israel have all been canceled due to the missiles from Hamas. Families that are brave enough to make the drive, still have the ability to meet together. Most will probably celebrate alone with the immediate family only.

Our Shavuot May event sponsoring food boxes packed by Arabs who love Israel and the Jewish people and given to Jews in poverty, some of them Holocaust Survivors, is still continuing. Right now in the times we find ourselves in, this makes a powerful statement! And due to the circumstances, we will continue for another two weeks with the food boxes. Join in!

Also, we have invited 300 Jews in poverty to the north of the country (where it is quiet) for a tour and lunch, as well as historical teachings of the area. A life-changing experience for them! This will be, God willing, taking place in about a week or so.

Here the ways to assist Israelis in need for Shavuot:

Reconciliation Project – Christian Arabs in Nazareth giving food boxes to impoverished Jews in the north in Nof HaGalil (some are Holocaust Survivors): These Christian Arabs have a heart to bless the Jews in Israel!  From the welfare roll comes a list of needy people to receive.

Holiday lunch for 300 immigrants living under the poverty line in the south: 300!  That’s a lot – but it’s a lot of needy people who don’t have money for a nutritious, fun time out for a great middle eastern meal.  There will be entertainment and speaker during the meal.

Meals for a month for immigrant shelters in the center (they don’t have funds to make it through the month: This way the Aliyah dream becomes a reality!
