After the Skirmish: A Day for Ashdod

Ashdodite meal

310 Israeli immigrants were bussed by Israel Relief Aid on a day tour in the Galilee recently, getting them away from the memories of bombs, destroyed buildings, fear and anxiety. This was a group from Ashdod, one of the hardest hit during the Gaza skirmish.

Living under the poverty line was the requirement for them to attend.  Busses were prepared with tour guides.  The weather was fantastic.

The special day included lunch at a Christian Arab event hall that was large enough to seat the entire group.  The amount of food was incredible . . . plates of every kind of traditional Israeli foods filled the tables, to be eaten with pita.  Then they brought the actual lunch plate with chicken, salad, potato and roll.

During the meal musicians played and people spoke and encouraged the Ashdodites.  It was a time of peace, calm, fun, enjoyment, and enlightenment, as the history of the Jewish people was also presented.
