Netanya is in the upper central region of Israel on the coast itself. It is a large city of over 217,000, Jews. If we wanted to help the Land of Israel’s Netanya and those in most need, who would it be?
A significant number of Ethiopian Jews have settled in Netanya, 12,000. Since their arrival 10-15 years ago, it has been an enormous challenge for the parents to learn Hebrew. Most of the teenagers arrived with no education past 6th grade max and so quickly dropped out of the Israeli school system. Not being able to communicate in the business world, plus lack of education caused them an inability usually to work more minimum wage only if at all.
Ethiopians eat only the Ethiopian diet, requiring the women to cook in the home and raise the kids. These all add up to a financial disaster.
Israel Relief Aid has an Ethiopian aid center in Netanya that we recently gave furniture, new shoes and clothing to, from our most recent aid container.
Israel Relief Aid is always looking for those in the most need, those really struggling in the worst housing and financial condition. In Netanya, it’s the Ethiopian Jews.
