As reported in Times of Israel on 3/17/20, the Health Ministry announced widespread new restrictions to curb the spread of the coronavirus, requiring Israelis not to leave their homes unless for essential needs.
And beginning 3/18/20, the Magen David Adom emergency service will offer “drive through” testing areas where people can be tested in their cars.
In the midst of worldwide uncertainty, it’s important to lift the spirits of, and assist, those in need. And it’s precisely times like these when we see the very best of the human spirit shine forth. It’s wonderful to see the outpouring of support for those in need!
Up in Haifa, the Ethiopian Jewish community suffers more than anyone. Their children have never received Purim gifts like Israeli kids usually get.
Israel Relief Aid was asked to bring a Purim Event for Kids that they could celebrate with the custom. Fortunately we were able to do this before restrictions were put in place. Many boxes of Purim treats were supplied for the party and beautifully-ribboned gifts for each child.
They were in shock over the gifts – thanks to you they were blessed.
And during the remainder of March, Israel Relief Aid is collecting funds for Passover food bags that contain foods like matzot, grape juice, chicken soup mix and other foods that are traditional for the holiday for the poverty population of Israelis in Bat Yam.
Bat Yam is an older community with a lot of Holocaust Survivors, widows and disabled living on small monthly stipends. Join us!
